The G&S For All Pirates (1972)

Donald Adams as the Pirate King Everest 3454 |
This is an abridged recording and companion film by Gilbert and Sullivan For All, the G&S touring company founded by Donald Adams and Thomas Round. Three of the principals here — Adams, Round and Masterson — recorded these same roles with D'Oyly Carte. Several of the others are former D'Oyly Carte small-part players.
All of the G&S For All recordings feature reduced orchestrations, but for some reason it was more noticeable to me on this recording than most of the others. The recent video transfer by Musical Collectables is in such excruciatingly bad condition that it is nearly unwatchable.
