Recordings of The Sorcerer

The Sorcerer has not fared particularly well on records, and all three of the D'Oyly Carte recordings have drawbacks. The 1933 recording was the only one made while the opera was in the D'Oyly Carte repertory, but it is abridged and lacks modern sound fidelity. None of the recordings includes dialogue. 1966 is the Sorcerer of choice by default.

The 1982 Brent Walker video is excellent and will find a happy home in any collection.
