This video was made as part of the 1981 Brent Walker
series, which included Cox & Box and
all the G&S operas except for the last
two (Utopia, Limited and
The Grand Duke).
Most commentators agree that the Walker Sorcerer is a strong production
(Donald Adams and Clive Revill coming in for particular praise). It is the only
professional Sorcerer that we have on video — a condition not
likely to change in the foreseeable future.
